Postdoctoral Researchers
We currently have an open position for a Postdoctoral Researcher in the lab!
The project will involve analyzing genomic data from modern and historical/ancient genomic datasets, and using computational methods to assess patterns and evolutionary consequences of hybridization between different canid species.

In addition, I am happy to support fellowship applications and co-writing NSF grants with prospective postdoctoral researchers. There are several national and international fellowships opportunities, such as NSF PRFB, Smith Fellowship, L’Oréal USA For Women in Science, and the Schlumberger Foundation Faculty of the Future. There are also NSF STAR grants that are ~$400,000 and could fund an independent project for a postdoc position.
Graduate Students
I welcome inquiries from prospective graduate students interested in broad evolutionary questions related to our research, however, I will likely not be taking students for next year (Fall 2027) unless they are independently funded.
In general, graduate students in the lab will have opportunities to develop independent research projects while also contributing to broader collaborative projects. Depending on their interests, students may work with genomic datasets from modern populations, museum specimens, or ancient samples and develop skills in population genetics, evolutionary genomics, bioinformatics, and computational biology.
International and Visiting Researchers
The Hennelly Lab welcomes inquiries from international researchers, postdoctoral scholars, graduate students, and visiting scientists interested in collaborating with or spending time in the lab. We value international collaboration and the diverse scientific perspectives, experiences, and expertise that visiting researchers bring to our research community.
Researchers interested in joining the lab through international fellowship and exchange programs—including Fulbright programs, international postdoctoral fellowships, visiting scholar programs, and funding opportunities from their home countries—are encouraged to get in touch. Visits may range from short-term or longer-term research exchanges, depending on the research project and available funding.
We are particularly interested in hosting researchers whose interests overlap with evolutionary genomics, conservation genomics, population genetics, adaptation, hybridization, ancient and historical DNA, and wildlife conservation, as well as researchers who bring complementary expertise or study systems that could open new collaborative research directions.
